CALIFORNIA

Bello by Sandro Nardone

Location: Newport Beach, California
“When I discovered this restaurant, I went there at least 4 times in 10 days. The food is delicious and authentic. The Michelin-star chef is always there and makes sure every dish comes out perfectly. Both children can eat safely, but let them know beforehand that way they can prepare!!”

CUT by Wolfgang Puck

Location: Beverly Hills, California
“This is by far probably the best steakhouse I have been to. Cut just received a Michelin star for their amazing food. The server and chef made sure everything that the boys ate was free of all their allergens.”
@dsarsour who manages tree nut and seed allergies

Amour Weho

Location: West Hollywood, California
“Absolutely loved my experience at this Michelin-star restaurant! The servers were incredibly knowledgeable and explained every dish before serving them. It’s definitely on the pricey end, but if you’re looking for an elevated experience I HIGHLY recommend Amour!”
@kqwright5 who manages peanut, tree nut, sesame, and plantain allergies

Mourad

Location: San Francisco, California
“Had an AMAZING dinner here! This is a Michelin-starred restaurant in the Financial District specializing in Moroccan cuisine. This was a fantastic dining experience, and they were so allergy-aware! The minute we sat down they asked if anyone at the table had food allergies. I alerted the staff of my allergies. Everything we ordered for the table (I was with a large group), the staff ensured was safe and nut-free. There are tree nuts added to a few dishes (almonds and walnuts) but staff were super on top of it and ensured all dishes were adapted to be nut-free! We loved the snapper, braised short ribs, kale, and smoked crab app, and I safely ate almost everything listed on the menu! Highly recommend for a fancy allergy-aware dinner in the city!”

SUGARFISH by Sushi Nozawa

Location: Santa Monica, California
“Excellent sushi restaurant! The service was superb, and all of the food was prepared expertly. Best of all, SUGARFISH is excellent at accommodating food allergies, and did not use any nuts at the time of our visit. We did the ‘Don’t think just eat’ tasting menu which sounds insane for someone with severe allergies, but we were reassured that none of my allergens were present in the kitchen.”
@julpelu who manages tree nut allergies

Father’s Office

Location: Los Angeles, California
“I was recently told that Father’s Office had the best burger in LA (The Office Burger) – apparently they were awarded a Michelin star just for the burger, so of course I had to see for myself and to say the least, it delivered!! An amazing burger with rich melted cheese on top, and no sesame on the bun!! Staff told me there were no nuts served in the restaurant and they could handle the sesame. Delicious, stress-free burger!”
@kqwright5 who manages peanut, tree nut, sesame, and plantain allergies

TAO

Location: Los Angeles, California
“Visited this highly rated Michelin-star spot for my boyfriend’s birthday. I was able to call ahead of time and confirm that they would be able to accommodate my sesame and nut allergy. While there were many menu items that weren’t an option for me, they really made me feel confident in their protocol in what they safely brought out. I got to experience Chinese dishes that I have never safely tried before and was incredibly impressed! Definitely pricey, but for a special occasion I would recommend! “
@kqwright5 who manages peanut, tree nut, sesame, and plantain allergies

The Charter Oak Restaurant

Location: St. Helena, California
“The staff are very well educated and quickly confer with the chef to make sure cross-contact is avoided. Menu is always changing, but have eaten many times for lunch, dinner, and the tasting menu with wonderful gluten-free accommodations.”
@mjochims who manages celiac and peanut, and tree nut allergies

The French Laundry

Location: Yountville, California
“The French Laundry is a three Michelin-star restaurant with a nine-course tasting menu! The staff is amazing! Almost everything is made in-house and they are so accommodating with food allergies. The food is outstanding. We even get a tour of the kitchen after our meal. Highly recommend!”
@natascias who manages tree nut allergies

Mayura Indian Restaurant

Location: Culver City, California
“Delicious Indian food (with a Michelin star). The staff is very helpful. The menu is labeled. Inform them of your allergies and they’ll help. Try the masala dosa, they have a gluten-free bread that’s a great substitute for naan, idly, biryani, veggie curry, chana masala, can’t go wrong!”
@plantivore who manages celiac and peanut, tree nut, soy, milk, corn, and flax allergies

Flour + Water

Location: San Francisco, California
“This place is unreal. The food is so good and they are very accommodating despite the restriction of a pre-fixed tasting menu and shared plates.”
@merylhunter who manages tree nut allergies

State Bird Provisions

Location: San Francisco, California
“Had a fabulous and safe meal here! This is a well known restaurant in San Francisco with amazing dishes. We had a big group and did the pre-fixe menu. When we were seated our waiter checked with everyone to confirm allergies (we also emailed in advance so they prepared things ahead of time). As we went through the courses, the waiter brought me some of my own dishes and also let me know what dishes that were brought for the whole table were safe for me. I will say because there were a lot of people it felt a little overwhelming communicating with our waiter, and one dish gave me a bit of anxiety that I needed to double check (the sauce ended up being guajillo chile paste which looks and tastes nutty). One of the main dishes had a lot cashews but I was brought a cashew-free bowl. I ate safely and loved the tahini cucumber and pork belly entrees! They also brought me a safe dessert and a specially made gluten-free State Bird! I definitely recommend this restaurant—I would just communicate in advance with the waiter before and during the dining process especially if you are with a large group!”
@emsnutfreeeats who manages celiac and peanut and tree nut allergies

Boulevard

Location: San Francisco, California
“CRAZY nice restaurant ($$$$) but I came here with work and had a fabulous meal! It’s a prefixed menu (app, entree, dessert) but you can pick from a variety of options and staff were SO HELPFUL with allergies. They checked everything with the kitchen multiple times. I would definitely come back here – the food was amazing! Gorgeous views of the water and great drinks too!”
@emsnutfreeeats who manages celiac and peanut and tree nut allergies

Heritage

Location: Long Beach, California
“My first Michelin star rated restaurant. This place is fantastic. They do a rotating tasting menu based on what’s in season and all of it can be safely made gluten-free. They just need 48 hours notice to ensure they have everything ready. Make sure to do the wine pairing with dinner, it’s an experience and the food is incredible.”

COLORADO

The Wolf’s Tailor

Location: Denver, Colorado

Super accommodating for food allergies! I called ahead when I made my reservation! They had a menu that crossed out all of the options with gluten/dairy and a separate menu that crossed out all the options with nuts! It was very clear what I could and could not order. One person with me doesn’t eat gluten and dairy and the chef made a special dessert for him!
@lkohlmann who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

FLORIDA

Primo

Location: Orlando, Florida
“I visited during the FARE Summit and they were food allergy trained by FARE!
For Primo specifically, they had an allergy menu and they made all allergy orders in a completely separate side of the kitchen. It’s a Michelin restaurant and the food was really good! The portions sizes were also really generous for the price. I enjoyed it a lot!”
@ashleybga who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, soy, and sesame allergies

Macchialina

Location: Miami Beach, Florida
“Our waiter had a nut allergy himself and all staff asks if you have any allergies or dietary restrictions before taking your order. They will change up their tasting menu to accommodate any allergies and were overall very knowledgeable.”
@bha474 who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, egg, shellfish, wheat, and mango allergies

Jaleo by José Andrés

Location: Orlando, Florida
“Wonderful restaurant with limited nuts that were threatening to my daughter’s allergy. Only one salad containing walnuts. There are also pine nuts and almonds on a few other items, but the restaurant is great with allergies. My husband and I did the tasting menu and asked that they leave off the salad containing walnuts if that were to be included (since our daughter was dining with us) and they were very accommodating. Amazing food, drinks and service!”
@lbedwell who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

ILLINOIS

Indienne

Location: Chicago, Illinois
“Incredible staff, they were so careful and thoughtful with allergies, I will be going back frequently. Made me feel totally safe despite some food on the menu that had my allergens. 10/10 service, food and attention to allergies.”
@jbass12 who manages peanut, tree nut, and shellfish allergies

El Ideas

Location: Chicago, Illinois
“Simply the best allergy protocol. I told them weeks ahead of time about our allergies, they knew, remembered and had no issues. Felt totally safe.”
@jbass12 who manages peanut, tree nut, and shellfish allergies

Kasama

Location: Chicago, Illinois
“A one-star Michelin GEM of a restaurant that can fully accommodate celiac restrictions. O M G. Kassama brings modern Filipino food to Chicago. Their breakfast sandwiches look amazing but aren’t gluten free. Their 13-course tasting menu can be made gluten free, so can their mocktail pairing and most cocktails. The attention to detail is next level. The chefs are all super informed of cross-contact. Perfection.”
@gfreebasicb who manages celiac and an oat allergy

Kumiko

Location: Chicago, Illinois
“Incredible Japanese food. The cocktails are SO good and the staff is very knowledgeable about ingredients that are gluten-free. The food is just out of this world. Their omakase isn’t open right now due to the pandemic, but their menu has a TON of gluten-free and celiac-safe options. They fry their chicken in a separate fryer and it’s gluten-free and truly so addictive. There’s a reason this place earned a Michelin star.”
@gfreebasicb who manages celiac and an oat allergy

Alinea

Location: Chicago, Illinois
“They call you beforehand to discuss allergies and had mine memorized from the second I walked in the door. Amazing experience.”
@jbass12 who manages peanut, tree nut, and shellfish allergies

Oriole

Location: Chicago, Illinois
“It’s hard to find a tasting menu where they accommodate gluten free without you feeling they skimped. Oriole went above and beyond. With homemade gluten free breads, pasta, desserts. They were exceptional and I felt I got the exact same experience AND menu as my partner. 10/10 if I could afford to I would eat here once a week. It is exceptional!”
@drizzlekitchen who manages celiac

NEVADA

Gordon Ramsay Steak

Location: Las Vegas, Nevada
“Gordon Ramsay never disappoints!! Our server was a former chef, and he knew every ingredient in every dish. The steak was amazing, the sides were great and the ambiance was nice. If you choose to get the tasting menu you go home with an autographed picture of Gordon!”
@dsarsour who manages celiac, tree nut, and seed allergies

NEW YORK

Bird Dog

Location: New York, New York
“Most AMAZING dinner I’ve had in a while. I did the tasting menu and they catered every single dish to me. Staff was super knowledgeable about allergies and made me feel safe and comfortable the whole time.”
@girlwnogluten who manages celiac and tree nut, fish, shellfish, sesame, meat, fruit, and vegetable allergies

Claro

Location: Brooklyn, New York
“While in NY, we had dinner at the entirely gluten-free @claro in Brooklyn. This Oaxacan restaurant that has earned a Michelin star didn’t disappoint. We sat on the back patio which was super pleasant.
We had the Tostada de Atun, Mulita Primavera and Barbacoa Tacos. We also had tostadas y salsas. For the main course, we split the duck enmolada, Mole Verde trout and Tetela Enfrijolada. Dessert was Arroz con Leche with peaches.
For kiddos, the restaurant was able to make cheese quesadillas, which were so tasty that the grown-ups were sneaking bites. They were sure to make them free from cross-contamination with nuts and sesame for my kiddo. The only thing I would change about our meal was that they didn’t have their churros on the dessert menu for our visit – something that I was definitely looking forward to. That being said, everything from the flavors to the plating to the dinnerware to the service were all top notch.”

@glutenfreeinsb who manages celiac, peanut, tree nut, and sesame allergies

Casa Enrique

Location: Queens, New York
“Most of the menu is gluten-free, and the staff is always happy to go over which menu items are safe. This restaurant has received a Michelin star several times, and it’s consistently some of the best food I’ve ever eaten. Not sure if they’re doing reservations at the moment, but normally they book up at a month in advance.”

@tastymeditation who manages celiac

Daniel

RHODE ISLAND

Gracie’s

Location: Providence, Rhode Island
“I had the tasting menu, which was something I’ve never been able to do before. They accommodated my allergies very well and made separate dishes that were just as good when I couldn’t have the regular dish. I had food I haven’t been able to have in years, truly can’t recommend enough.”

@sophieschmults who manages tree nut and seed allergies

TENNESSEE

Blackberry Farm

Location: Walland, Tennessee
“As soon as the staff found out I needed to be gluten-free they went above and beyond. The homemade graham cracker/marshmallow s’more kit? Their pastry chef made me homemade gluten-free graham crackers. Our beautiful Michelin-starred dining experiences? They made sure everything I had was gluten-free, even when I questioned them on what looked like barley (turned out to be gluten-free oat groats!). Fantastic service all around and am saving up to go back!”

WASHINGTON, D.C.

Ottoman Taverna

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
“We were recommended this Michelin-star restaurant while in Washington and am so glad we tried it! Everything was delicious. There are tree/pine nuts used in a few dishes, but everything was safe for my peanut allergies! “
@alyssabauder who manages a peanut allergy

Cranes

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
“Michelin-star restaurant with no peanuts and were clear on what dishes would be safe, also vegetarian friendly.”
@saumyav who manages a peanut allergy

Tail Up Goat

Location: Washington, District of Columbia
“I contacted the manager in advance and provided my food allergy list. Upon arrival, I was provided a menu with items crossed out that weren’t suitable and several items annotated where they could make adjustments with meaningful substitutions. This made ordering easy and ensured I still had thoughtful composed dishes.
I returned again and received the same excellent service. This is the most accommodating restaurant I have ever dined at.”
@weinsteinsm who manages peanut, tree nut, soy, sesame, fruit, and legume allergies

BELGIUM

Restaurant Umā

Location: Bruxelles, Belgium
“This is an incredible Michelin-star dining experience. I emailed them in advance with my allergies (dairy, soy, gluten, some nuts…) and they were prepared with delicious gluten-free rolls. They showed me the options I could have from the a la cart menu, and it was about half of the options. They proceeded to make me a special amuse bouche and other little bites, everything was INCREDIBLE. We did the octopus, langoustine, artichoke, and beef. If you like fine dining, it’s a must. There was a dessert option I could have (a mango dessert) and it was perhaps the best dessert I’ve ever had. They even brought out little final dessert bites after that were delicious. Would absolutely go back.”

@plantivore who manages celiac and peanut, tree nut, soy, milk, corn, and flax allergies

FRANCE

Didon

Location: Paris, France
“This is the more upscale sibling restaurant of Hebe (see other review). The chef here is Michelin-star and the wine and beverage list is phenomenal. They have a detailed allergen chart at this location as well! The owner brought me to the kitchen to speak with Chef Eric directly! All was allergy-friendly and absolutely delicious, INCLUDING THE AMUSE BOUCHE! I had risotto, swordfish, zucchini 3 ways, and delicious potatoes. Carol and her husband really are a power couple balancing wine and food knowledge! (They do use nuts in the kitchen) This is on the pricier side, but it is just wonderful! 12/10 recommendation this place.”

@allergytravelr who manages celiac and peanut, tree nut, milk, soy, shellfish, wheat, fruit, grain, MSG, and histamine allergies and Oral Allergy Syndrome

Loulou Restaurant Paris

Location: Paris, France
“When we go there, I sort of thought the only safe option was going to be the pomodoro, which would have been great, but we asked about the fish + meat of the day and we ended up splitting the special sirloin of the day. They also came up with a safe starter, a mushroom salad, and 2 types of safe bread! The main entree (the sirloin) originally came with fries but the waiter came back and let us know that the fries were either fried with something with peanuts or it was fried in peanut oil (I couldn’t entirely understand what was going on) but moral of the story, it wouldn’t have been safe. So they made us a green salad with super fresh lettuce and it also came with amazing sautéed vegetables. Overall, SO delicious and highly recommend. They even had safe sorbet for dessert but we passed because we were so full! This restaurant is right next to the Louvre so it’s in a great spot!”

@carlinhanley who manages peanut, tree nut, milk, sesame and shellfish allergies

Frenchie

Location: Paris, France
“Intimate and incredible upscale restaurant that does a 5 course blind tasting menu. They had no issues or hesitation to accommodate my allergy (just notify them beforehand) and we were blown away with how delicious every dish was. Such an amazing experience and memorable meal! Reservations are very limited so look to book well in advance!”

@passthetreats who manages a wheat allergy

Arpège

Location: Paris, France
This restaurant was amazing. They handled my allergy very well and accommodated everything on the chef’s choice menu. Each time they brought out a dish, they explained how it was different from my friends’ food (i.e., how they had accommodated the allergy). The entire staff was aware of my allergy. And the food was incredible!!

@beckyd144 who manages a milk allergy

GREECE

Delta Restaurant

Location: Athina, Greece
“This is a 2 Michelin-star restaurant so it is incredibly upscale and expensive. Food includes lots of fish and fermentation which might not be for everyone. They called in advance to confirm my food allergies and how severe they are. Both the host and our main server noted my allergies before food came. The menu is preset so wasn’t able to ask questions/substitute but I felt completely safe the entire experience. Anytime my course was different than my husband’s they explained what the difference was and why (usually dairy in something). I got a wine pairing that they specially curated just for me based on the substitutions they made (my husband had different wines to pair with his food). Probably one of the best and most incredible restaurant experiences in my life.”

@elaineat who manages milk and soy allergies

I did the vegetarian tasting menu and they were able to make it completely egg and gluten-free. They had gluten-free naan and allergy friendly alternatives for every component. Highly recommend! Definitely deserving of their rating as the best restaurant in New Delhi.”

OXOMOCO

Location: Shibuya City, Japan
“Made a reservation online prior to our trip. They specifically asked about allergies when doing so. When we arrived at this small counter restaurant, the chef immediately acknowledged the allergy and asked if sesame was okay. The chef spoke perfect English (he was not Japanese) and said they have no nuts. The menu is very small, but delicious. This is the Tokyo location of the Michelin-starred Brooklyn restaurant. Very good understanding of allergies and very good service!”

@lbedwell who manages peanut and tree nut allergies

Make a reservation far in advance because it books up!”

La Colombe Restaurant

Location: Cape Town, South Africa
“The most elevated and unique dining experience of my life. Even though it was a set tasting menu, they fully accommodated my allergy with no complaints. Highly recommend arriving early to explore the property a bit.”

@passthetreats who manages a wheat allergy

SPAIN

La Gaia by Óscar Molina

Location: Eivissa, Spain
“If you’re looking for something A) on the higher-end side and B) that will allow you to explore different ingredients, presentations, and culinary techniques—La Gaia by Oscar Molina is for you. This is a truly ‘experiential’ restaurant experience, meaning your group will be the only one sat at a specific time, you’ll move through a few different ‘stations’ before sitting down, and the entire tasting menu is 18 courses. I loved how the tasting menu wasn’t rigid; the kitchen was able to adapt all of their dishes to my needs and the waitstaff fully explained what ingredients were used in each course. Even without food allergies, this is the kind of meal that you’ll remember for a long time, and the customization and thought that went into each of my courses made it all the more special! I would just say, if you do have allergies, definitely let the team know with as much notice as possible. They had a month or so to prepare for me, which likely factored into my experience.”

@allyoucanteat who manages peanut, tree nut, fish, shellfish, seed, and vegetable allergies
